We are excited to present our dynamic Kindergarten curriculum designed to engage young learners and lay a strong foundation for their lifelong learning journey. Aligned with Wisconsin academic standards, this curriculum encompasses a holistic approach, integrating core subjects that foster developmental growth in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, art, and music.
Language Arts:
Our Language Arts curriculum nurtures literacy from an early age, guiding students to recognize letters and their sounds while developing essential phonemic awareness through fun, interactive activities like rhyming games. Children will practice writing through both upper and lower case letters and will express themselves through drawings and dictation about their experiences, enhancing their ability to communicate effectively. By asking and answering questions about stories, they will also enhance comprehension skills critical for future learning.
Mathematics:
The Mathematics segment provides a sturdy foundation in numerical understanding. Students will count orally up to 100 and learn to recognize, compare, and understand numbers up to 20. We emphasize the development of basic addition and subtraction skills within 10, helping children grasp foundational concepts that will be built upon in later grades. Through hands-on activities, children will identify and describe shapes and understand time and money concepts, making mathematics relatable and enjoyable.
Science:
Our Science curriculum invites curiosity and exploration, allowing students to investigate the basic needs of living things and observe changes in weather and seasons. Through hands-on experimentation, children will learn about the properties of matter and understand concepts related to motion and forces, sparking their interest in the natural world and instilling a sense of wonder about their environment.
Social Studies:
In Social Studies, students will discover the importance of community. They will learn about community helpers, key symbols and landmarks in the United States, as well as the significance of rules and laws in our society. By exploring diverse cultures and traditions, we aim to prepare students to appreciate the rich tapestry of the world around them while instilling empathy and respect for others.
Physical Education:
Our Physical Education program emphasizes the importance of health and well-being through the development of fundamental locomotor skills such as running, jumping, and skipping. Students engage in games that foster teamwork and cooperation, all while learning safety rules during physical activities. The curriculum enhances gross and fine motor skills, encouraging children to appreciate the joy of movement.
Art:
The Art curriculum encourages self-expression and creativity. Children will experiment with various art materials and techniques to create pieces inspired by their surroundings, emotions, and stories. By exploring colors, shapes, and textures, students not only develop artistic skills but also practice critical thinking and envision the world uniquely. Music:
Our Music curriculum inspires a love for rhythm and melody. Students will sing simple songs and play rhythm instruments, building their sense of pitch and timing. Through exposure to various music types and instruments, as well as movement activities, children learn to express themselves and respond to music, enhancing their emotional and physical coordination.
