North Dakota 2nd Grade Curriculum

At our school, we are dedicated to equipping our second-grade students with the foundational skills and knowledge they need to thrive academically and socially. Based on the North Dakota academic standards, our comprehensive curriculum integrates Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education, Fine Arts, and Technology. Language Arts

Our Language Arts curriculum centers on building strong reading fluency and comprehension. We engage students with a variety of texts, fostering a love for reading and enhancing vocabulary. Phonics instruction helps students decode words with confidence, while our emphasis on the writing process equips them to express their ideas effectively. Grammar and mechanics are woven throughout, alongside spelling and neat handwriting practice, preparing students for clear communication.

Math

In Math, we introduce essential concepts that form the backbone of mathematical understanding. Students explore addition and subtraction up to three digits, while also mastering multiplication and division facts. Our curriculum fosters spatial awareness through geometry and measurement, and students learn about time and money concepts. Science

Our Science curriculum captivates young minds with hands-on exploration and inquiry. Topics such as life cycles, habitats, and Earth materials allow students to understand the world around them. Discussions on energy and its various forms, forces and motion, and weather patterns promote curiosity about scientific phenomena. Social Studies
